Africa’s biggest Black Rhino relocation

The population growth of both black and white Rhino’s is gradually increasing within the last couple of years. A grand total of 2.5 million has been spent on the relocation of Rhinos in the months of May 2014 – June 2015 alone! The good news is that each year we are expecting a 6-8% growth rate in the Black Rhino population.

Botwana Rhino Reintroduction project

begins. First white rhino released into the wild.

2003 

First black rhino released into the wild

2007

Negotiations begin between

the three countries for black rhino translocations

2009

Two MSc degrees completed

2014

three cross-border translocations from South Africa into Botswana

2015

Five further translocations of black rhino from South Africa and Zimbabwe.

A healthy breeding population established.
