New York

Superb in Fall, Winter and Spring, the buzz downtown is ever present. Whether you’re in the City, SoHo, Greenwich, Mid-town or Upper East Side, Manhattan’s energy and razzmatazz will delight.

There are so many approaches to accommodation. The contemporary modern skyscraper hotel from which to look down on the city Manhattan-style, the classic palace hotel on the park, the excruciatingly elegant mid-town hotel or the boutique characterful Village-style, exposed brick and bohemian artwork. Or take an apartment – we’ll find you the one.

Call or for your New York visit.

We love them all and can find the perfect one for you – but this season, I’m going with The Bowery

That’s it! Time out! Let’s hop on a plane and warm up on the streets of Miami. There’s always a party going on here, great food and dancing…

Miami is flourishing. Food culture, service and quality of accommodation are world-class. The whole range is here from contemporary hip, through sophisticated elegance to traditional palace-like serenity. Stay in the centre of town or just along the beach, the choice is yours.

We like The Setai out on Miami Beach – but you can also go the full W!

Call and we’ll find you the best city break in the sun…

So much fun! The old City of London is bustling, competing with the new pretenders on the South Bank, Borough Market and The Shard. The East End is bubbling and out west, Covent Garden and Soho are more fun than ever!

Stay in an iconic classic on the West End / Covent Garden or a wonderful new boutique. The Savoy will always be The Savoy but this time, we’re suggesting Hotel l’Oscar for its suggestions of unashamed loucheness and fine cuisine…

Such a good-looking capital city and how clever to make it so compact and perfect for strolling on foot! Turn up your collar, throw on your stole and wander down wide boulevards past the Elysee and Tuileries, winding cobbles in St Germain and on Ile de la Cite and interesting alleys in the Marais.

Our concierge in Paris is truly magnificent – chocolatier insight, perfumier consultation, art tour – and will bring the city alive for you.

Stay in a boutique hotel in St Germain, a chic newcomer up at Arc de Triomphe or an elegant palace hotel in the 8th. Just now, we absolutely the love La Reserve on the Jardins des Champs-Elysees but please for your perfect stay in Paris.

Such a fascinating city with a truly unique atmosphere for northern Europe. There is so much going on – canals, cobbled streets, the trams and bicycles, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Vermeer and cafe culture. Perfect long-weekend territory and our concierge will recommend and help you plan a stimulating stay…

Take a grand hotel on the Amstel or Rokin Canal, a boutique address amongst the coffee shops and smaller waterways of Jordaan or – our favourite – the rather incredible boutique Hotel Twenty-Seven in Dam.

In its first year of opening Tim Golsteijn, executive chef at Twenty-Seven, won a Michelin star for his restaurant Bougainville, ably supported by Lendl Mijnhijmer the sommelier, who holds the McNie Tasting Trophy. The bar has a fascinating range of spirits and beers and the hotel itself surpasses expectation in almost every area.

French-speaking Lausanne on the shore of Lake Geneva is the most attractive of the three lakeside towns, voted #1 Small City in the World. Medieval shop-lined streets in the old town surround the C12 cathedral and sit perfect happily with contemporary state-of-the-art Swiss living – the essence of Swiss Hoteliery.

We prefer the Royal Savoy Hotel, halfway from cathedral to lake shore, this palace hotel belies the superb modern spa and cool contemporary decor within. This was the official Orient Express hotel in 1906 and the same architect as the Gstaad Palace. It is now re-opened following a 5-year renovation and the result is remarkable. The spa is world-class, the sky lounge superb and the Michelin Brasserie du Royal is one of the finest restaurants in town.

Our concierge will bring the city to life for you. We can arrange a fun session with a ‘Nose’ with whom you will create your own fragrance to take away. The same notes will then be used by the sommelier to find your favourite wine!

Always rosy and bustling, Barcelona is a super winter-time target and never fails to exceed expectations in the quality and diversity of experience it delivers. Gaudi’s architecture and Picasso’s art have left a legacy that inspires this corner of Catalonia including the food culture and hospitality.

There is a great choice of hotels in the city, mostly modern and boutique in size and the competition drives the quality ever-upward. Our favourite for this season is the Almanac. It scores in every department and provides the perfect base from which to explore this vibrant city.

At the crossroads between wine country and Alps, France, Switzerland and Italy, Lyon has such depth of culture and breadth of heritage – the food culture here is remarkable – and all in a medieval setting between the banks of the Saone and Rhone that we think it one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Our concierge will design your perfect break in Lyon and we recommend you stay at the Cour de Loges in the heart of the old town. Positioned at the foot of Fourviere Hill, near the Basilica and the infamous Traboules, the hotel is surrounded by restaurants and craft shops. The Celestins Theatre is nearby and the legendary Halles de Paul Bocuse, the epicentre of Lyon’s gastronomy. This was the birthplace of cinema (the Lumiere brothers) and the list goes on…

The hotel’s restaurant Les Loges has a Michelin star due to chef Anthony Bonnet and a cooking school in Les Petits Loges is a great experience. The hotel spa is superb and you will be amazed with their secret hanging gardens! Call or for your tailor-made visit to Lyon.

The central Aldstadt either side of the River Limmat are very picturesque in their medieval style and there are lovely riverside walks towards the Rathaus. The world banking centre has brought excellent facility and the quality of restaurants, cafes, bars, the theatre and art galleries is very high.

Come and explore Zurich and stay at the Widder. This unique hotel has evolved in the combination of several adjoining town centre buildings so that its higgledy-piggledy design is charming, made practical with Swiss ingenuity, glass and steel.

Rooms are each unique, full of character and original features from the buildings before they came together to form the hotel. There are several restaurants and bars, the Widder Kitchen fine dining combines French with Asian cuisine but the Widder Bar and Boucherie are there for less formal occasions.

Let us put together a great weekend away for you in Zurich

Heart of Valpolicella and Amarone, a stone’s throw from Lake Garda, Verona sits on the Adige River and is simply wonderful! Its pedestrianised centre is a beautiful maze of cobbled streets absolutely overflowing with Enoteca and Trattoria. Passeggiata time here is a dream – when every shop tries to stop you with a glass of something of a nibble.

Stay in the picturesque old town at the Due Torri hotel, from which you can stroll to everywhere. Our concierge will set up vineyard visits or tours of the city – as you like – to bring the city and region alive for you.

Simply and we can plan your perfect visit to the Veneto.
