MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique has a luxury of Indian Ocean coastline, running from Tanzania in the north to South Africa in the south. To the west it contrives to border Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The country’s long, largely deserted coastline is a beautiful wilderness. Lush vegetation reaches down to the strip of white sand and clear sea, often with healthy coral reefs close inshore. There are many small islands in the north, running in a fringe southwards and gradually thinning out as the coastline becomes less craggy, more mangrove-y and the islands fewer but larger.

Quirimbas Archipelago in the north and the Bazaruto in the south are home to several wonderful lodges but practical considerations often mean that they are thought of separately. The Quirimbas is accessed from Dar es Salaam (not entirely easily) and the Bazaruto from Johannesburg (better).

Let us find you the right lodge on Africa’s most beautiful coastline – the journeying will be worth it.
